Body awareness - evoke

ema Musik

For almost all instruments

Without a good sense of balance, it is not possible. We need the balance not only to master and precisely control complicated sequences of movements. We also need it for spatial awareness (orientation) and for sound production. Ideally, musicians need a particularly good sense of balance.

The good news: thanks to a few less helpful materials, exercise and balance activation can now be combined. And the second piece of good news is that this not only saves time objectively, because the result benefits greatly from it. The third piece of good news is that you can get started without any additional materials. The simplest form is to stand on just one leg when practising. The fourth piece of good news is that it can also be done more comfortably and sensitively!

Balance can be activated immediately for anyone who plays standing up, as all you have to do is stand on a suitable "material". "Suitable" means that you are encouraged to balance yourself.

Activating balance during exercises has an extraordinary potential for optimising performance in a healthy way. To a modest degree, this can be done "on the side". If you realise that vibration is a mix of open and closed movements, rotating movements, and small and large movements of the left arm, it becomes clear that a "sense of space" is required. An activated balance reinforces this in a special way.

Practising in balance: recommended materials

Basically, you can stand on anything that stimulates your body to balance in any way. This works very well with air-filled cushions/objects or studded rubber mats whose nodules give way. It is important to remember that we all react differently.

There is no right or wrong here in the strictest sense. For some, standing on a studded rubber mat feels like standing on a rocking ship, while others perceive little or no movement.

Perhaps the most important tip: listen to your body, it will tell you what is good for it and just try it out.

Further focal points on the topic "Body"

The topic "body" when practicing and making music also concerns us from other perspectives.

Conscious activity

Here we explore how to integrate conscious activities during practice in such a way that they directly benefit both the body and the success of the practice.

What is good for him

Here we are experimenting with the question of how relaxation and practicing can be directly linked.
