More about the Warm up exercises

Coordination and Rhythm Warm up for violin and violaThe basis of the four-step warm-up is the two-part left-hand pizzicato as a practicing technique. This is practiced in the first step with different rhythms. Then, in the second step, it is supplemented by the feet, which are rhythmically independent of the left-hand pizzicato. In the third step, the left-hand pizzicato is supplemented by the bow, which is also practiced rhythmically independently of the left-hand pizzicato. In the fourth step, everything is practiced simultaneously, i.e. the left-hand pizzicato is supplemented by the feet and the bow.

Warm up violin exercises are also for viola

The warm-up is fundamentally suitable for all ability levels of violin and viola players and can be introduced, e.g. with a few simplifications, in the initial lessons. The level of difficulty increases from step to step as well as through the choice of rhythms and fingering combinations. It is therefore also very demanding for advanced students and can be designed to suit everyone at all levels.
